Spain trip - Grenada, pt. 2

The Court of the Lions - Nasrid Palace - Alhambra
At the Palace of Charles V - Alhambra
Palacio de la Madraza
Capila Real de Granada entrance
The cathedral nave
After last night's flamenco showcase it was nice to get back to touristing this morning. Another snafu, this time with the pick-up site for the Alhambra tickets, gave Charles kittens, but everything worked out and he was able to see a lot of the Alhambra complex and the Generalief Gardens including the Church of St. Maria of the Alhambra, Charles V palace, and the Nasrid palace.

Getting back to the Cathedral area, Charles next took in the Capilla Real de Granada. This is a beautiful site which is known in particular as being the burial place of Ferdinand & Isabella. Near to this was the Palacio de la Madraza, once a Islamic school during the time of the Caliphs.

Finally it was to the Cathedral itself. This was the highlight of the Granada leg of the journey and is truly a unique experience. It would be great to be there for worship on a festive day to see it again in its intended state of use.

Charles then had a quick lunch intending to catch a couple more special places on the 'must see' list but, surprise! They were closed for the afternoon.

Next it was on to Toledo and another of the ancient walled cities of Spain.

Churches: Today, 4 (overall, 22); Museums: Today, 2 (overall, 15)
