Surprise

A steady snowfall today was a bit of a surprise! It didn't stick to the pavement, but the blanket of snow gave the early spring sprouts an unusual look.

Signs of spring

Purple Hyacinths start to appear
Dwarf Purple Iris

With ever-increasingly warmer days, there are glimpses of spring at the parsonage. This week we noticed a few green shoots for Purple Hyacinths. We'll get some more snow before the season is through, but there are signs of warmer days to come.

Famous Ladies in Boulder

We took advantage of the cultural offerings here in Boulder to take in a fun performance this afternoon at the West Boulder Senior Center.
After a nice lunch at the Eat Well Cafe' (in the senior center), we enjoyed a performance by members of the Legendary Ladies, a troupe that offers portrayals of women from history of the west.

Today, we heard from Prairie Rose Henderson (a rodeo star), Olga Little (a mining outfitter), Dr. "Doc" Susie (an early western female doctor), and Isabella Bird (English Victorian-era traveler).

A Prayer to St. Gertrude, Patron Saint of Cats (and gardeners)

St. Gertrude of Nivelles, ask you I pray

Safeguard my kitties this and each day.

Defend them from those who might wish them harm.

Keep them at home safe from danger and storm.

Instill in me wisdom to care for them well.

Pray, fill me with strength never to yell.

And Gertrude, a last thing I beseech from thee,

Protect my sofa from claws and my carpets from pee.

Amen.

A new project in the studio

Charles has begun working on a new 48x60 canvas that if it works as he intends, will be included in the Liturgical Painting series.

Lunch on the mountain

We took an unplanned outing this afternoon, a lunch date at the Chautauqua Dining Hall, a wonderful place to enjoy a picture-perfect late winter day.
