Art on the go

Charles will be taking part in two exhibitions this fall and is excited to be able to have venues to announce.

The first exhibit runs from November 8 - January 6 at Café Aion in Boulder. One of Charles' paintings, "Pride of Boulder: Stonewall @ 50" is the cover piece for the announcement.

The second exhibition is the Boulder Art Association member's show, November 19-24, at R Gallery in Boulder.

A white start to the week

The third snow of October hit the Front Range this week accompanied by frigid temps and a healthy amount of powder on our home.

The three snows this month (10th, 24th, & 27-29) have totaled 9.6"

Happy birthday, Belinda!

We enjoyed Belinda's birthday with a festive dinner at Santo. After the frigid, snowy weather we've had this week, it was nice to be out and about!

An afternoon on the course

Blue sky!
The Flat Iron Mountains with the Rockies dusted with snow
Afternoon sun
The evening looms
Following a seminar at Mountain View UMC this morning, Charles decided to take advantage of some amazing weather and got in a round of golf at Flatiron Golf Course in Boulder. It was 71 when he tied off and 60 when he finished and the wind was picking up. Tomorrow the snow begins and some freezing temps descend on the Front Range.

Belinda @ UMW in SLC

Belinda spent several days this week in Salt Lake City, attending the Mountain Sky Conference UMW annual meeting.

Testing the fireplace

Charles took the parsonage fireplace out for a spin tonight and is able to report that everything works just fine. Wesley took noticed of the activity but decided a nap was more interesting!

A cultural week

Art & Science of climate change

Charles has had a nice week in Boulder's cultural scene. On Wednesday he attended a seminar at the Boulder Library, Engaging Climate Change Through the Arts. While at the library, Charles took in two exhibits going on there by Parisa Tashokori and another titled, "Street Art" which utilizes art made by members of Boulder's homeless community.

Today he was involved in a meeting (part of the Boulder Art Association) that is preparing for a show in November. It's cool to be involved in a creative group like this. After this, he visited the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art which is a small, but interesting collection of modern artistic expressions.

A new brush with winter

A fresh blanket of snow fell overnight and as with the previous snowfall, it was enough to be pretty, not enough to delay anything of note.

A lovely experience

We had a wonderful experience tonight, a service of choral evensong at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church (nextdoor to CU).

A pleasant Saturday

This was a delightful Saturday for us with perfect weather and lots to see and do. We set out for the UMC of Johnstown's annual holiday craft fair. It was fun to see such creative expressions of holiday cheer!

After a lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Loveland, we took a stroll around the Chapungu Sculpture Park. We discovered this almost by accident and are so glad we did!

A nice day for a stroll

The view from Charles' room this morning

Charles' time in Estes Park has been very full which made this afternoon's free time that much sweeter. Taking advantage of the time and nice weather, Charles went to the Estes Park Golf Course for a round. There were a lot of elk on the course and the bugle calls of the bull elk could be heard from all corners!

A few days in Estes Park

On the road into Estes Park
Elk are found everywhere!
A treat at You Need Pie!
Tuesday morning in the Rockies
Sporting a cool look!
Charles has been attending two meetings as part of his clergy responsibilities this week in Estes Park. It's only 40 miles north of us and is a nice place to get the work of the church done!

An afernoon in Olde Arvada

We had time this afternoon to head down to Arvada to take in some of the annual scarecrow festival. We also got to visit the historic Arvada Flour Mill, an interesting look into the past.

More from the first snow of the season

White stuff at the church
In "the secret garden"
Leaves decorate the snow
Chokecherry tree in the backyard

With warmer weather on the way this weekend, yesterday's snow is quickly melting on Gillaspie Drive. The leaves will no doubt begin to quickly change colors and begin to drop in the coming days making for a lovely sight on the Front Range.

Dinner in Hygiene!

We took the drive north to Hygiene this evening for the annual Hobo Dinner at the United Methodist Church. It was a lot of fun and we even bid on a great cake!
