A snowy weekend

Wesley found a place to hunker down as Charles prepared to shovel the 3.5” of fresh snow from yesterday/today. The snow started late Thursday evening and was off-and-on through Friday into Saturday morning. It was downright cold, about 14F on Saturday, a far cry from Wednesday's mid-50s!

We’re ready for Christmas

The tree in the nook

Train set given by Charles to his dad in 1990

The tree in the family room
With a light snow falling throughout the day, we set about to decorate the house for the festive season. We decided to put the big tree in the nook (where we often have our tea time) and a smaller tree in the back room where we watch TV.

Happy Anniversary!

We have lived in many places over the years. Wherever we go, we make our home together, a home full of life, laughter, and love:

Thanksgiving 2023

First fire of the season

Getting the cards ready to go

Before the decorations

Thanksgiving Day ahead of the approaching snowstorm, was a delight as we had a low-key time together. We enjoyed the first fire of the year while completing our Christmas cards and had a simple feast to cap the day!

A visit from an old friend

We had a nice surprise today, a visit from John Daniels, son of Dan & Bets Daniels. John was Charles' first D.S. in Montana! It was so nice being able to connect after worship this morning.

A necessary chore

Charles took advantage of the sunny weather this afternoon to tend to the annual clearing of the gutters at the parsonage. Moving the ladder around the house and climbing up and down made for a tired fella!

The view tonight!

On our drive home from visiting with the Koellings, we were treated to an amazing sunset over the Front Range

Old friends

We had a delightful time today, visiting with Rev. Marvin & Joyce Koelling in Windsor, about an hour north of Boulder. Marvin was Charles' first district superintendent in Nebraska! It was such a fun time catching up on all the memories we'd collected over the years.

A beautiful Sunday in Boulder

Morning has broken

All Saints Day painting

A new stole from Charles' mom

We enjoyed a beautiful Sunday, starting with the amazing sunrise! Charles wore the new stole that his mother had made for him and he even darted to Mountain View UMC to conduct a charge conference (in his role as an UMC elder).

P.E.O. Bazaar at Boulder's Mountain View United Methodist Church

Belinda Alkula and Nell Grindstaff have a great time shopping!

Charles is a great sport carrying all of Belinda's purchases! -- Nell Grindstaff is really happy with her purchases, too!

It's a bazaar Friday

Belinda took advantage of a delightful autumnal Friday to make the drive to Fort Lupton UMC for its annual United Women in Faith bazaar. She came home with a bounty of tasty treats that we'll share with our church family on Sunday.

Wesley is on the job!

Wesley was on the job today as Belinda got out the ironing board to work on a new stole that Charles' mother had made for him. Thank goodness we have such an attentive kitty to help us with our tasks around the parsonage!

Culture in the city

Vasa Velizar Mihich "LS71"

Mary Pritchard - Siapo Mamnu

Lin Tianmiao - "Seeing Shadow #20"

Amoako Boafo - "Lady in Blue"

Ethiopian Orthodox artist

Charles was in Denver today, taking someone we know to a hospital for a procedure. Having some time to fill, he made his way to the Denver Art Museum to take in a couple of exhibits that are in town for a brief stay. In addition to those exhibits, he took in mostly contemporary art, works from Oceana, art from Africa, and some abstract scupture pieces.
