It was a relatively slow week for us this past week as summer in the Bitterroot Valley moves ever-slowly towards cooler weather.

Eating out, Montana-style

Our church had not one, but two picnic potlucks this weekend, on Friday evening and today for lunch. It is a treat to get together in a different setting than the church fellowship hall!

The life of Wesley

Wesley & "Forty Shades of Green"
Wesley test-drives the towels, fresh from the dryer
Having cats is a constant source of excitement around the parsonage. Wesley and Monty are learning to get along again (slowly) which keeps us all on our toes!

Wesley escaped the house when we returned from the church picnic this afternoon which caused a lot of excitement for us! He eventually wandered back home, oblivious to the excitement he had caused Belinda and Charles!

Busy days in Stevensville

Making pasta
Terrific turn-out!
Bananas Foster
Birthday lunch at the senior center
Announcing the August birthdays
Living in a small town has many advantages including events we've enjoyed over the past two days.

On Tuesday, Sheila took advantage of the library's program, Laughter Yoga (Belinda is a big fan!). Later that day, all three of us took in the dinner being hosted by the community program that offers lunch to children during the summer months. The hosts had expected fifty to attend, 108 showed up!

Today we attended the monthly birthday lunch at the Stevensville Senior Center. Always a treat to be with these folk!

Another succesful open house

Root beer floats for everyone!
Sheila and Donna share a laugh
Belinda and Bev enjoy the gathering
Our fourth open house in the Stevensville UMC parsonage was a success if the amount of floats consumed was any indication. We love showing our appreciation to the congregation for providing us with such a wonderful place to call home!

the week that was

Wesley practices his diving tuck
Hail on Tuesday
After the storm
Too much cleaning for Wesley's taste
First leaf turning on the hops
It's been a busy week for us with church and work activities nearly every day! A lot of focus this week was in getting the house and yard ready for our fourth annual open house at the parsonage.

a hopeful moment

After nearly two months of frequent cat-tustles where we had to keep Monty and Wesley separated, we seem to be able to have them in the same area without much incident.

Sunday afternoon was one such moment when Monty (in the chair) and Wesley (on the dryer) were both watching the outdoor cats without any fuss.

It's Creamery Picnic time again

We're in Stevensville for our fourth Creamery Picnic (it's the 104th annual event)! This evening, Charles took in the children's parade which is quite brief, but fun to watch!

We're ready to float!

We spent much of today helping ready the Stevensville UMC entry in Saturday's 104th Creamery Picnic parade here in Stevensville. It is fun being with such creative people!

Guard Kitty!

Wesley has been spending time in the basement and has taken up the duty of basement guard cat. He does a great job of keeping tabs on the comings and goings on College Street!

We had a treat this afternoon when a dear lady from our church (Betty Lowell) stopped by with friends in their 1931 Model A. What fun, driving around town in such a stylish auto!

Fire news from the Valley

The Roaring Lion fire (five miles) south of Hamilton, which started yesterday afternoon, is obscuring the mountains in the Bitterroot Valley today. Last night, Charles took a load of supplies to the Red Cross evacuee center on behalf of the Stevi UMC.
