More projects in the books

Stencil painting
Encaustic painting
Gesso board painting
Photo transfer painting
Propaganda piece
Charles wrapped up work today on an assignment in painting for four pieces, each done in a different style.

Stencil painting - an Ikebana-inspired piece. The white vase is a ceramic tile on which he painted "Akebono" (Akebono was the first foreigner to ever reach the rank of Yokozuna in sumo), the other mark is "Iwakuni" (where he learned about Ikebana)

Encaustic painting - basically wax and paint. Charles collected all the scraps/leftover wax from the other student's projects and made a 3-D piece.

Gesso board, sanded by hand - spray painted fourteen colors on eight geometric stencils.

Photo transfer - the figure on a horse is from the Crazy Horse monument with oil pastel, gobs of oil paint and marker.

The propaganda piece is from his printmaking class. Charles thinks he's come a long way in such a short time in this class!!

The end of Indian Summer

The eve of homecoming at UM
With the National Weather Service saying this is the last day in the 80s for the year, we are enjoying the changing of the leaves and the rustle of the trees in the early autumn breeze.

It's a cat's life

Monty catches an early morning nap
Patch and BB enjoy an afternoon snack
The indoor cats (Wesley & Monty) and outdoor cats (Patch and BB) are enjoying the Indian Summer we're enjoying this week. Lots of sun and opportunity to soak up the afternoon sun without the summer heat!
