The final critiques

Charles' final two projects were critiqued today with good results for both.

In Ceramics, Charles was part of a group project creating a dinnerware set, in this case, a sushi dinner. Charles' contribution got good comments for style and glazing.

In painting, his painting, his largest to date (48 x 60) was well received with nice comments regarding the complexity of technique and glazing.

Hyvää Itsenäisyyspäivää! (Happy Independence Day)

Charles joined Finns and those of Finnish descent today in marking the 100th anniversary of the creation of independent Finland.

Charles created a Finnish flag and included "Sisu," on it. Sisu loosely translates as "tenacity with purpose" as is key to understanding that culture!

A white Sunday

Nearly an inch of snow fell on Stevensville today which made for a picture-postcard view of our street! The annual Hanging of the Greens at the church was such fun as were the treats afterward!

Belinda is busy!

Belinda is finding that retirement doesn't mean she has much time for being idle! Two choir practices, UMW meeting, helping at the church, and taking care of Mo keeps Belinda really hoping!

Charles' week on campus

Current 48x60 painting project
Experimenting with candle wax
Four tea pots ready for the kiln
The semester is in the final weeks and that means extra time in the studio. Charles has been working on his sushi dinner set project in ceramics and on several painting projects in his studio.

A First Friday event

Our church took part in the first annual Church Nativity Tour (along with the Catholic Church and the LDS Church) tonight. We contributed eighteen Nativity sets/ornaments to the event which attracted seventy-five people to our church!
