Alkula reunion, pt. 4

Mom's town
Cool time in the afternoon
Evening pizza frenzy
Gathering in the kitchen
Post-pizza time
Following the visiting at the cemetery and in Largo, we came back to the condo in Dunedin for an evening pizza-fest. Joe, Jody, and their children joined us for a great time of catching up and lots and lots of laughs!

Alkula reunion, pt. 3

Largo High rises on the site of the old school

Grandparents home in Largo
The Largo house seems so small now!
Seaboard Coast Line tracks ran by our house
Duplex where Marianne Holden lived
Following the drive to St. Pete we made our way back to Largo to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Alkula families move to Florida (arriving on June 18, 1966).  Largo sure has changed from the sleepy town we first encountered all those years ago!

It was nice seeing "the Largo house," our grandparent's house (mom's parents) in Largo, and the construction of the new Largo High School. All of the kids (except Sandy) graduated from this school.

Alkula reunion, pt. 2

First Friday in June

Public transit on Main Street
Lots of energy!!
Belinda joins in the fun!
Getting into the dance
Introducing the children to the drums

Belinda's first First Friday @ the library was an enjoyable one as she helped facilitate a dance troupe's introducing the community to a variety of African dances. More than thirty came to enjoy the drumming and dancing!!!

There didn't seem to be as many people out on Main Street this month, possibly the nice weather was too tempting to be indoors!

A new chapter!

Mary Nelson stopped by to wish Belinda well!
Belinda began her new job at the North Valley Public Library (in Stevensville) today with much anticipation and excitement about this next chapter. The library is two blocks from our home which makes for a really nice commute!
