La Gran Posada

At Milam Park
"Mary & Joseph"
In El Mercado (the Market)
At the Royal Governor's Palace
In San Fernado Cathedral
The reason we headed to downtown San Antonio this evening was to take part in La Gran Posada:

"San Fernando Cathedral conducted the annual La Gran Posada on Sunday.

It is one of the oldest Christmas traditions in San Antonio, dating back to colonial times. Traditionally, Las Posadas, which is Spanish for “the inns,” is a nine-day celebration beginning Dec. 16 and ending Dec. 24.

It symbolizes the trials that Mary and Joseph endured before finding a place to stay where Jesus could be born."
