Where the two intersect is the community of Lolo.
Last night the Lolo Peak fire broke through the defenses and started to make its way down the steep slope on the east side of the mountains. Mandatory evacuations began just after midnight and more are to be ordered tonight.
Charles was returning from a hospital visit in Missoula this evening and witnessed the Chinook helicopters and other aircraft making passes with water and fire retardant. He also saw a tall pine at the forest edge explode in flame!
