Charles took advantage of a "cool" day to make the drive to Keenesburg to visit The Wild Animal Sanctuary.
This amazing facility cares for hundreds of (mostly) large animals - bears, lions, tigers, jaguars, servals, leopards, wolves, foxes, and more.
Most of the animals were rescued from varying degrees of neglect, abuse, or other undesireable circumstances. Now they have the chance to live in enclosures that are quite large (many acres each). The 1.5 mile elevated walkway gives visitors terrific views of the animals and provides the sanctuary residents with a stress-free life.
On the way home, Charles stopped in Fort Lupton and had a nice lunch at Chavez, a new place just off the main street in town. Very friendly staff and some wonderful food made for a nice accompaniment for the day!
