Belinda attended the Women's Study Club last night. Ms. Peggy Kelton presented a wonderful program about Texas' history . She even administered a pop quiz about Texas. The oral exam included what is the state's flower, bird, insect, "large mammal," fruit, vegetable, fish, etc. Wow, so much to learn! Texas declared its independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836, to become the Republic of Texas. Since March is Texas' birthday month, the table decorations featured bluebonnets, cowboy boots, etc. And the refreshments included some really delicious chili and iced tea! Of course, the sing-along included "Deep in the Heart of Texas!" Praise be to God for such a lovely group of women who enjoy one another's company and who want to learn more about the history of the place they call home!
