The Blog is Back!

A problem with the Blogger.com website this week has prevented access and updates to the Alkula blog. We're back and here is what has been happening!

Sunday was our typical busy day with three worship services and a potluck (in McCamey). It is amazing how much fun it is to be in the midst of a happening place!

Belinda went to work in Odessa on Monday and made it back to McCamey in time for the annual United Methodist Women's "Mother-Daughter" supper at the First UMC. Charles presented the program for the evening on the topic of Pentecost. He used some of the many items in his study from around the world to illustrate the theme. Among the items were eleven New Testaments, each in a different language. Quite fun to explore the faith this way!

Tuesday & Wednesday was another "on the road" day for Belinda as she went to Big Spring for more training. She also went to San Angelo on Friday for still more training, she is learning so much!

Charles went to Odessa on Wednesday and passed through an area just south of the city which had been badly burned in some of the recent wild fires in this area. Amazing that anything is able to survive after all that.

Charles has been busy this week with meetings, visiting, lunch at the Iraan and McCamey Senior Centers and a funeral on Thursday (in McCamey). He has also been picking up litter as he walks about McCamey, eight bags in the past week! He has also been doing some "low-level" campaigning for the McCamey school board election, Charles is a candidate for one of the two spots open this year.

A very busy weekend is in store for us - Belinda returns from San Angelo later today and then we're "off to the races!" Check in and see what we've been doing.
