Charles' walk through the Arboretum brought him to the Portland Japanese Garden. "Proclaimed the most authentic Japanese garden outside of Japan. The garden is a 5.5 acre haven of tranquil beauty in the scenic west hills of Portland."
One could easily stay there all day such was its simplicity and beauty. After the busloads of school children at the zoo this was a welcomed taste of something wonderful!
