It was a full day for us on the road in Texas! We woke up to snow showers over the Dallas-Ft. Worth area which made for some rather interesting driving on the busy streets of the Metroplex.
Charles had a meeting about the support he will be providing to the Lutheran church in Roscoe, TX (west of Abilene) during December. It was a challenge to get there but it was fun to hear about the future of the faithful congregation in Roscoe.
Following Charles' meeting it was time to continue our journey to San Angelo, passing through Ft. Worth and then into the countryside west of "Cowtown." There just happened to be a Cracker Barrel which was included in our luncheon plans!
As we were traveling west, we stopped for a brief time in Eastland. It was a surprise to see a large can of tomato soup next to the highway! A patron at the DQ noticed us taking pictures and came out to help make our photo journal complete!
Continuing west on I-20, we came to the town of Cisco, Texas. This community has the distinction of being the site of the very first hotel owned by Conrad Hilton. There was a very nice museum tracing his early years in New Mexico followed by his rise to be a titan of hoteliers.
We turned southward, heading for San Angelo and were in for a final treat for our Wednesday travels. As we drove through the town of Bronte, we noticed the sign pointing the way to the First United Methodist Church. We noticed the lights were on and so we stopped to take a peak at this charming church. We met the pastor, and were invited to stay for supper and the annual church meeting being held tonight. What a delightful group of people!!! The District Superintendent even invited us to stop by on Thursday to talk about supporting ministries in his district. Praise be to God!!!
