On the Road with Charles - Day 2

Waking up in Arkansas and going to sleep in Kentucky: What a day!

I spent the morning visiting the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, located at the site of the former Lorraine Motel (the site of Dr. King's assassination). It was very special to visit the museum and to explore the African-American march towards equality. Following that museum, I toured the Museum of American Soul Music at Stax Records. This was a really cool place, and the energy that was present, even among the staff, was wonderful!

After all that museum-viewing, it was time for lunch on Beale Street at "The Pig on Beale," one of the many BBQ places on the street. It was even better because of the elderly blues singer/trumpet player entertaining the passersby.

With Memphis behind me, it was on to Kentucky. I did stop at a couple of places along the way to Kentucky that looked interesting including a portion of a Civil War battlefield at and a couple of historic markers involving Methodists from the 1800's.
