July 4th in McCamey & Iraan

The day got off to a rather wet start this morning, our seventh day in a row with rain! You'll never hear anyone in west Texas say it is raining too much! By the early evening however the sun was making a valiant attempt to make an appearance (its first since last Sunday afternoon)and the roads appeared dry for the first time in a week!

As we left McCamey this morning, Charles spotted some movement alongside the road. It was a flock of over twenty wild turkeys! We were not able to get a good picture of these beautiful creatures, but trust us, it was amazing!!!
Our worship services at the two churches and at the McCamey Convalescent Center were moving. Though attendance was down due to the holiday the warmth of the people present more than made up for the lack of numbers.

This evening we were at home when we heard some pops outside. Looking outside, we saw the fireworks in McCamey. We went to the ball field just past the hospital where we watched as local residents shot off many types of pyrotechnics.
We have now been at McCamey & Iraan six months and what an amazing experience it has been. We are so looking forward to seeing what happens next!
