If it's Wednesday, it must be Wisconsin

After waking up in Salem, Illinois this morning (home of Miracle Whip and William Jennings Bryan) we set off on our northward journey, destined for Wisconsin.

We stopped for lunch in Arcola, Illinois having sighted a sign for a quaint place called "The Dutch Kitchen." After lunch we noticed that just down the street was the Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum! It turns out that Arcola is the home of the creator of these iconic dolls, Johnny Gruelle, and the museum is still operated by two of his granddaughters. It was a lot of fun to walk down memory lane in this quaint town. We also visited the Arcola UMC and looked around a bit at the influence the sizable local Amish community has had on the community. Following our time in Arcola, it was time to continue north.

We made it to Wisconsin in the late afternoon and made our way to the Wisconsin Dells area northwest of Madison. After getting an eye-full of the tourist sights and congestion we found ourselves at The Cheese Factory Restaurant. Belinda had the cheese soup and the famous "Big Cheese" sandwich that Rachel Ray raved about and wow, she was right! Charles meanwhile had the best Hungarian goulash and pierogi you're likely to have anywhere!
After a busy day of driving and sightseeing, it will be good to get to bed tonight!!!
