More Working and Resting in Aitkin

Monday afternoon, we discovered that the First Lutheran Church (ELCA) here in Aitkin was hosting a free community meal! Well, we didn't need a second invitation for a free meal, and so at 5:30 p.m. sharp, we were there! What a terrific outreach ministry! Each Monday evening, a different community group uses the First Lutheran kitchen/fellowship hall to provide a free meal to anyone who comes. Belinda enjoyed their offering of sloppy joe's. Charles had the pulled pork; the potato salad was first rate, and Charles raved about the home-made cherry pie! (However, not to worry, Ms. Deloris Barnhart in Sidney, Nebraska! Your cherry pie recipe is still THE best recipe ever! ... and MANY thanks for teaching my lovely wife Belinda how to make it!!!)

Today was a work day, with both Charles and Belinda going to the lake cabin to begin the task of staining the rear deck. We got there around 11am and didn't leave until 5:30pm, and there is still a lot to do! We'll have to see how the weather holds over the next few days; we may not get to finish the job until Saturday. The good thing about today's weather was that is stayed below 73F with a nice breeze all afternoon; we loved it!

After all that hard work, we treated ourselves to a fabulous pizza at Rosallini's (about a block away from the United Methodist Church parsonage). This has to be the best pizza pie we've had since we were in Chicago over two years ago!!!
