We woke to the sound of rain falling in Aitkin this morning: What a pleasant sound when one doesn't have far to go!
We decided to attend the Aitkin UMC and see how these good people do what they do to praise God when their pastor is on vacation. The jar of local honey that was given to each guest was a nice touch. It was a very nice service with a lay preacher bringing a fresh message from the life of King David.
After the service, we joined the congregation in their fellowship hall for a "Brat & Corn Feed." Charles said the brats were excellent, and both of us enjoyed the local sweet corn on the cob and the yummy deserts.
It is a lazy Sunday aftenoon here in metro Aitkin. The sun has emerged, and with it, a pleasant summer breeze with which to enjoy the day.
