We bid farewell to the cottage on the farm of Beth and Bill Messer (near Villa Rica, GA) this morning and headed back out on the road. Our destination today was Nashville, Tennessee, which we achieved in the late afternoon.
Before we said goodbye to Georgia, however, we had one stop to make: A visit to Charles' Aunt Barb in Ringgold, Georgia. We met up with Aunt Barb and her poodle companion, Pebbles, and had a lovely lunch at her favorite restaurant, Wally's (which has some awesome fried green tomatoes). It was good to catch up on the happenings of family after a long absence. We then set off after lunch and after a brief stop at Monteagle Winery in Monteagle, TN, we made it to Nashville.
We decided to stay the night at the Opryland Hotel , where we had once stayed (after leaving the Navy in 2007). A quick freshing-up and it was off to supper aboard the General Jackson riverboat! The dinner and show were fabulous!!!
Tomorrow we'll continue our journey - who knows where we'll end up!
