It was a three-state day for us today: Waking up at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee; visiting Paducah, Kentucky; and ending the day in Salem, Illinois!
The stay at the Opryland Hotel was wonderful; the sound of the waterfall was a welcome greeting to the new day. After a hearty breakfast at the nearby Cracker Barrel, we drove north/west into Kentucky.
As we drove through western Kentucky, we noticed signs for the National Quilting Museum in Paducah. We decided to make a detour, which turned out to be a wonderful decision! The museum has a wonderful assortment of quilts, some of which were truly breath-taking. We walked around the historic part of town located on the shore of the Ohio River. This place has everything that one could ask for in a city, including a Cracker Barrel! We also stopped in at Broadway UMC (which is the oldest institution in Paducah) and an amazing church - it even has a pool (built in 1923) which is offered to the community as an outreach ministry!
Heading north into Illinois we ended our day in Salem - a full day for two weary travelers!
