We didn't make it to the computer access points over the past few days, so here is a brief recap.
Thursday was another slow day, just resting around the cabin and enjoying the pace of life on the farm. Friday was another story, as we made the long-awaited drive down US-27 to Pine Mountain, Georgia, the home of Callaway Gardens. We enjoyed the whole day there: Lunch at the country store/restaurant, visits to all of the garden areas and even a stop at the golf course to set up a tee-time for Charles to play on Saturday!
Highlights of the gardens included visiting the beautiful memorial chapel, the famous butterfly house, the victory garden-south (seen on PBS), the demonstration greenhouse and just driving around the grounds, which had one amazing view after another.
After Callaway Gardens, it was on to Tyrone, Georgia, where we visited with Sandy, Charles' sister. We had a wonderful cookout with Sandy and her husband Steve. Also there for the great food and fun was Sandy's daughter Julie (with husband Tony and their two daughters) and Steve's son Steven (with wife, Whitney). Sadly, Michael (Sandy's son) and his wife and son couldn't be there. It had been five years since we'd all gotten together (just before we left for England), so it was a special time for us! Charles and Steve teamed up to beat Tony and Steven in a rousing Bocce match to highlight the evening!
