We enjoyed our last Sunday in Georgia (for awhile), sleeping in a bit before attending church at Powell Chapel UMC (just down the road from "our cabin.")
We had stopped by the church on Wednesday for a Bible study which ended up in choir rehearsal, which we took part in! We were warmly welcomed into their fellowship and were treated as part of their family from the moment we walked in.
Today we went to choir practice at 10:30 and sang "It is Well with My Soul" with the choir during the service. The service also included a baptism and a very good sermon by the pastor, Rev. Bill Tidwell, (a full-time counselor for the county here) who is a wonderful shepherd for this special community of saints.
Following the service we were welcomed by a generous congregation to attend their monthly birthday/anniversary potluck. And, boy, can these Georgia UM's cook! We ate and fellowshiped with these good folk for a long time before finally taking our leave.
We spent the afternoon resting at the cabin in anticipation of our departure for Minnesota in the morning. See you on the road!
