A beautiful (and full day) was in store for us on this first Friday in November. We went into Aitkin to run a couple of errands before setting off on our drive to "The Cities."
We drove first to Little Falls where had lunch at a cute family dinner, The Royal. We had intended to visit the Charles Lindbergh (where he spent his boyhood) in Little Falls. Sadly, it was closed for the season but the nearby Charles Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum was open which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The museum features items from Morrison County (MN) and was filled with all sorts of unusual items from the county's history.
Next up in Little Falls was a unique museum: The Minnesota Fishing Museum. We know what you're thinking: "Belinda and Charles don't fish!" While that is true we thought that when Minnesota, one ought to take an interest in all things Minnesotan.
It turns out that what had started as a hobby of one man had grown into an impressive collection of over 10,000 items. A fun tour followed and the display on ice fishing alone was worth the price of admission!
Continuing our travel to the south, we eventually made our way to the city of Chanhassen (sw of Minneapolis). We checked into a hotel and then waited for the time to go to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater to see the premier of "Nunset BLVD."
After a nice dinner it was into the theater where the audience was greeted by the writer/producer of all of the musicals in the Nunsense series, Dan Goggin. The show was a lot of fun and a must-see when it comes to your neighborhood!
